Yemi Alade’s Johnny hits record 100m views on YouTube

Yemi Eberechi Alade, a.k.a Yemi Alade a Nigerian Afro-pop singer has made one hundred million view mark on her YouTube platform, this has made her the second Nigerian to hit the 100 million mark.

Her hit song Johnny was her video that she released in the year 2014 achieved the mark for her and she was quick to thank her fans.

Yemi Alade, shared her excitement about the achievement on her Instagram handle @yemi_alade, expressed happiness and thanked her fans for their support. She wrote: “THANK YOU-THANK YOU-THANK YOU. 100 MILLION VIEWS.”

She then promised her fans that she would be “putting in more work this year” as she was invigorated by the support. Alade was part of a group Noty Spices in 2005 when she made her musical debut, but her music became widely known when she won the Peak Talent Show in 2009. She later released her first single “Fimisile.”

Yemi Alade has also many awards including MTV Awards of the Best African Female in 2015 and 2016 And also “Best Performer” at the 2018 edition.

David Adedeji Adeleke, aka Davido, was the first Nigerian to make the history of hitting the one million view mark on video streaming site YouTube with his video ‘Fall’ in December 2018. A month later, the video ‘Johnny’ has followed suit by achieving the landmark numbers of view on the site.

Other videos from the Nigerian music that is close to reaching the 100 million mark are Pana by Tekno, which has been viewed over 90 million, P-Square’s ‘Personally’ with over 87M and Runtown’s ‘Mad Over You‘ with over 81M views.
