A former governor of Bauchi state, Mallam Isa Yuguda who is not news to defecting have now defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC from the Green Party of Nigeria.
Ex-Governor Isa Yuguda was elected as the Governor of Bauchi State in 2007 on the platform of the then All Nigeria Peoples Party. After some rumbling in his party, he switches alliance to the People’s Democratic Party in April 2009 from the ANPP. Isa Yaguda went on to contest the election on the platform of the PDP and he won his reelection as governor of his state on 28 April 2011.
In August 2017 he also left the PDP with his supporters to the Green Party of Nigeria, GPN. Among his supporters and loyalist who left with him were the one-time National Organising Secretary of the PDP, Alhaji Umaru Dahiru, a former minister, Alhaji Habibu Aliyu, Yugudua’s former commissioners and campaign directors.
And now he has soon moved on with more than 5000 of his supporters into the ruling APC.
The development was said to by the same person who always announces his defection, former commissioner for Information and chairman, Yuguda Alheri Movement, Alhaji Salisu Barau Wakos
Alhaji Salisu said: “The purpose of this gathering today is to formally inform the general public of the official defection of Malam Isa Yuguda from the Green Party of Nigeria, to the All Progressives Congress.
“I want to declare that from today henceforth, Yuguda is a bonafide card-carrying member of the APC, including all his supporters in Nigeria. The defection is aimed at giving APC maximum support ahead of 2019.”
“As of this morning, we have over 500,000 supporters of Yuguda who have volunteered to follow him to the APC,”
“As I am talking to you now, the registration is still open and we believe between now and tomorrow, we may register almost a million people.
“Mallam Isa Yuguda and all his followers have volunteered to ensure the success of the APC at all levels,” he added.
