Magnus Abe a Rivers State senator claims to be the
People’s Democratic Party, PDP, leaders in the South-South region gathered and resolved to ensure victory for the party come 2019 election.
The region has six states and each of the party leaders in the state were all present at a meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Nyesom Wike the Rivers State governor, spoke to journalists on Sunday after the meeting of the South-South PDP leaders in his state.
He said that the South-South PDP will organise a special Presidential Campaign Council that will help the PDP control power in the region and ensure the victory of the Presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The Governor said: “We have resolved to set up a presidential campaign council in South-South and then take a date for the zonal presidential campaign rally. South-South is the stronghold of the PDP and we want to retain that.
“All the states in the zone must continue to remain under the PDP.
“We have set up modalities for the success of our party in the governorship, National Assembly and state Assembly elections in 2019.”
The regional meeting was well organised by the Governor and the PDP in the region as all the Governor under the platform of the party attended with their deputies. Also included were all the state PDP chairmen in the region as well as National Assembly members, former lawmakers and speakers of the state house of assembly in each of the state in the region on their platform.
